Products Reviewed: Rugged Ridge Door Hinges (BLACK) And lower hinges (BLACK) Picture show of stainless.

Rugged Ridge has a good line of products that seem to work well. I purchased the Rugged Ridge Door Hinges (item # 11202.01) in black and Rugged Ridge lower hinges (item # 11202.03) also in black from our friends at Baseline 4x4.

I went with black since I have a light color Jeep and I was going with a yellow and black theme for it. So stainless just wouldn’t look right. My old hinges made it hard to remove the passenger side door. This was not a good thing since I like running my Wrangler with out my doors. So it was time to change.

My first impression of the hinges were the finish was smooth and free of drips. They had been completely painted, this includes the post. This will need to be cleaned off before installing. I found a heavy grit sand paper, followed by a fine grit works best. Remember to grease them before installing.

Installation was simple, less the two torx bolts I stripped out. Thanks to James this was not a problem. If you never changed your door hinges, you might be surprised to find out that the factory does not pain under the hinges. The hinges you will receive will be slightly oversized to cover this up, and will help keep the paint from chipping. Also the lower door hinges are held on by a plate that when you remove will fall onto the floor in your Jeep. I would suggest either having someone help you or removing the door when re installing this hinge.

The only thing I have seen I did not like about these hinges is that the bolts oxidizes fairly quickly. Use some black automotive touch up paint to give them a top coat, this should fix this from being too much of a problem.

If you need to change your door hinges and don’t mind a little extra work, then these hinges are for you. If you have a dark color Jeep, I would go with a the stainless kit (item # 11185.96) as shown above.
