®HERCULINER Truck Bed Liners are marketed by Old World Industries.
I have been told allot about this product, I have also been told that Jeepers have put this just about anywhere they wanted to protect there Jeep. Even on there steel rims, and inside the tub. So I just had to try this.
I found this in the automotive section of Menards, they had the quart and the kit. I just wanted this for my pre-runner as a top coat to the POR 15 I finished it with, so I went with the quart.
To start off, I wasn’t too sure about this product. It has small rubber granules inside a polyurethane coating. I figured I might have some trouble with uniformity of the finish with a brush. But the instruction say to use a brush on places a roller wont go. And to my surprise it looked great in just the first coat!
You will know right away when you need to re-dip you brush when the granules start to become less in number, or the finish will start to “drag” where you applied the finish. I found that using a foam brush and “dabbing” the coating worked very well on my home made prerunner. Giving it a very aggressive look.
The prep is simple to do, all it need is a light roughing of the surface to give the finish something to bite into. I used a light grain sanding pad for this. The wiped it clean with a rag and some home cleaner to make sure all the dust was gone.
Since my stock bumper was starting to show its age I went ahead and coated it too. Over all this finish gave it a great look, and has added some life to my old stock bumper until I get a new one. Best part is you can touch up this product with minimal effort. I was so impressed with the easy of use of this product that when it gets warmer, I will be coating the tub, wheel wells, and frame this spring.
